Some funny and cool commands in Linux

Dedicated to all linux lovers..

If you love working in Linux/Unix operating system, you must try these commands for FUN.

1. REV

The rev utility copies the specified files to the standard output, reversing the order of characters in every line.  If no files are specified, the standard input is read.

shankar@shankar-desktop ~ $ rev
shankar
raknahs
shankysportal
latropsyknahs
kumar
ramuk
bhagat
tagahb
shankys
syknahs

rev command

2. SL

sl Displays animations aimed to correct users who accidentally enter sl instead of ls.  SL stands for Steam Locomotive.

This usually happens when a user types 'sl' instead of 'ls' command by mistake. So this command starts a steam locomotive on the screen and reminds user of his/her error.

OPTIONS
-a     An accident seems to happen. You'll feel pity for people who cry for help.

       -l     shows little one.

       -F     It flies.

       -e     Allow interrupt by Ctrl+C.

3. BB

bb is a high quality audio-visual demonstration for your text terminal.

You can select Music(Y/N), sound quality etc and continue..

4. FORTUNE

fortune - print a random, hopefully interesting, adage.

When  fortune  is  run  with no arguments it prints out a random epigram. Epigrams are divided into      several categories, where each category is sub-divided into those which are  potentially  offensive      and those which are not.

5.COWSAY/COWTHINK

cowsay/cowthink - configurable speaking/thinking cow (and a bit more).

Cowsay  generates an ASCII picture of a cow saying something provided by the user.  If run with no arguments, it accepts standard input, word-wraps the message given at about 40 columns, and prints the cow saying the given message  on  standard output.

6.YES

yes - output a string repeatedly until killed.

Eg,.  #> yes shankar

yes-shankar

7. XEYES

Xeyes watches what you do and reports to the Boss. It means it will open yes in youe X session as below

xeyes

8. WHO AM I

It will tell you the name you are logged in with and the terminal name where you are logged with the time stamp.

shankar@shankar-desktop ~ $ who am i
shankar  pts/1        2015-07-22 15:14 (192.168.67.1)
